Behind the metal clip on the holster you'll find a "tongue" looking piece of leather with a stiff metal plate inside it.  That leather backign with the metal plate is a guide to funnel the firearm out.  Make sure this leather piece behind the clip goes INSIDE the pants.  It is easy to accidently slip the leather guide between the belt and pants, that is not where it should go.  The layer order of materials should be Holster with Firearm in it > Guide > Pants > Belt > Holster Clip > Leather Flap.  Otherwise stated, the only thing you should see when lifiting the flap is the clip over your belt.
