Smith and Wesson's SD Series striker-fired pistol orginated from S&W's earlier Sigma series. They were designed to fall in between the Sigma and M&P line of handguns. The SD9VE started production in 2012 and is still produced to this day, being one of Smith & Wesson's most popular firearms.
